Public Display of Pizza Affection

Saturday, January 31st, 2009

From a kiss by the park to holding hands at the mall, romantic gestures become public property during Valentine’s Day.

But contrary to popular belief, not all lovers seek the world’s approval through mushy overtures. Lovers of pizza would rather whisk their sweethearts away to a culinary rendezvous: California Pizza Kitchen (CPK).

As the leading chain in authentic California cuisine, CPK boasts of gourmet fare that will make any dinner date swoon with success. Leading the serenade is an expansive pizza selection that, when paired with succulent pastas, is hard to resist even for the most scrutinizing of foodies.

A pairing that will make couples fall in love all over again is the Goat Cheese with Roasted Peppers and Kung Pao Spaghetti. The pizza—with its mild goat cheese, roasted peppers, grilled Japanese eggplant, and Mozzarella cheese—gives an alluring complement to the spaghetti topped with Kung Pao sauce, garlic, green onions, peanuts and red chillies.

“What makes CPK so appealing this Valentine’s is the adventure each couple is bound to have,” says Archie Rodriguez, President, CPK Philippines. “Our pizza-pasta pairings transform what would have been an ordinary meal into a memorably satisfying affair.”

Chocolate Souffle Cake A La ModeAfter savoring pizzas and pastas, Valentine revelers can even bond over drinks and desserts at CPK. Popular picks Chocolate Banana Smoothie, Peach Lemonade, and Mango Raspberry Colada stir up the conversation with its invigorating flavors. While seductive treats like Chocolate Souffle Cake, a Belgian soufflé cake served with triple-thick hot fudge on vanilla bean sauce, and Strawberry Cheesecake, a creamy New York style cheesecake on Graham crust, offer a sweet finish to the date.

So take a cue from pizza lovers this Valentine’s Day: Back up those sweet words with a public display of pizza affection in CPK.

The newest CPK branch at Greenbelt 5 Mall

Frequent shoppers of Greenbelt 5 are a discerning bunch. After purchasing custom jeans for him, a bejeweled watch for her, and new kicks for the kids—they then crave for cuisines that are as succulent as their fashion choices.

And no, fast food is not a preferred pit stop for their palates. Instead, what their taste buds yearn for are gourmet meals made from fresh ingredients, like the mouthwatering premium pizzas now being served in the newly opened California Pizza Kitchen (CPK) restaurant.

Located at the 2nd floor of Greenbelt 5, the new pizza haven recently held its store launch with guests of honor Jack Rodriguez and his wife Sonja, Henry Go and his wife Margaret, and Vicky Zubiri. The gathering buzzed with satisfaction throughout the event as they helped themselves to local favorite Adobo Chicken Pizza and other CPK bestsellers.

“We are very excited with the Greenbelt 5 expansion. It has a great and accessible location on the 2nd floor of the mall. Makati executives going out for lunch or families shopping on the weekends can easily find us and enjoy our pizzas,” said Archie Rodriguez, President of Global Restaurant Concepts Inc (GRCI), the local franchise owner of CPK.

Like Rodriguez, the executive management of GRCI such as Director Richard Santos, Treasurer Griffith Go and Vice-Chairman Manuel Zubiri, brother of Senator Miguel Zubiri, lent their support as well. Meanwhile, CPK staff headed by Senior Operations Director Gina Salazar and Senior Quality Assurance Director Jam Olaes ensured the celebratory feast went off without a hitch.

Not that it was hard to do so. Guests easily tapped into their inner pizzaficionado amid the sunny ambience of CPK Greenbelt 5. The new store has an improved interior design—earth-toned upholstery to cozy lighting—that gives it a warm California atmosphere. These improvements were drawn from the redesigned CPK stores currently being rolled out in the United States.

“Dining here makes you feel free-spirited and adventurous. You find yourself ordering—and enjoying—premium pizza flavors you’ve never tried before,” said Brad Geiser, Creative Director, Geiser Maclang Communications Inc.

With its enhanced look and swanky new address in the posh Greenbelt 5 mall, the new CPK Greenbelt 5 is set to become the plushest place for pizza in Makati.
